スカラーリファレンスのbless

JPerl Advend Calendarで無名スカラーリファレンスネタをやったんだけど

さくらとかでFreeBSD6.1で

bless \do{""}, "class";

とかやるとModification of a read-only value attemptedとか言って怒られる。
CentOSとかだとだいじょぶなんだけどなー
なんでだ？
